A man is in jail today after allegedly pointing a gun at multiple people in Mason, according to a report from the Lyon County Sheriff.

At around 2:10 p.m., Lyon County deputies in Yerington were dispatched to Fourth Avenue in Mason for a report of a fight.

Dispatch let the deputies know that one of the men involved had a gun and was allegedly pointing it at people in the house during the fight.

When deputies arrived to the house, witnesses identified the man with the gun as Scott Shepard, and said he ran with the gun back into the house.

After about a half-hour, Shepard left the house and was arrested.

The house was searched after a warrant was obtained, and officers found the gun - which turned out to be a replica model BB gun, made to look like a Glock.

After further investigation, interviews and evidence gathering, Shepard was charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

It was also discovered that Shepard had numerous outstanding warrants in Oregon. 10 counts each of encouraging child sexual abuse in the first and second degrees and a count of identity theft were added to his charges for the arrest.

Shepard's bail is set at $525,000 as he awaits a court date for both the Nevada and Oregon charges.
