Many area school districts have cancelled classes for Wednesday due to winter storms in the area, while multiple colleges are running on delays.
The Tahoe Truckee Unified School District has declared a snow day for all schools in the district for Wednesday, as has the Storey County School District.
All schools in the Carson City School District will be closed on Wednesday. Students and staff are advised to remain home, and there will be no student activities, after-school programs, or practices. There will also be no school services such as transportation, nutrition, or student health.
Northern Nevada Literacy Center classes will be cancelled on Wednesday, though offices will be open and the testing center will be open.Â
The Churchill County School District has announced that all schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Wednesday. Buses will run in accordance with this delay, with all pickups moving back two hours. Breakfast will not be served at any school. The district provided a breakdown of its delay schedule, which can be seen below.
All Lyon County School District schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Wednesday, including pre-k. All busses will be running 2 hours later than their normal schedule.
Our Lady of the Snows School will also be on a two-hour delay on Wednesday, as will Oasis Academy K-8 and High School in Fallon, which will begin at 10 a.m., with drop-off at 9:45 a.m.
Oasis Academy high school students taking college classes are asked to check the WNC website for information about their schedule.
Meanwhile, Bishop Manogue Catholic High School will be doing a virtual learning day. Their campus will be closed.
At the University of Nevada, Reno, all in-person classes before 10 a.m. have been canceled for Wednesday, while web classes and remote classes will continue as scheduled.
All other non-essential UNR campus operations have been delayed until 10 a.m.
The Redfield campus on Wedge Parkway is also on a delay until 10 a.m.
Meanwhile, all Truckee Meadows Community College locations will have a delayed start until 11 a.m.
All classes and services will operate remotely before 11 a.m. via Canvas, Zoom, or other internet-based tools.
Regular in-person classes and services will resume once physical locations are open. The Child Care Center will open at 10:30 a.m. for families.
Western Nevada College’s Carson City campus and the Child Development Center are scheduled to open at 10 a.m. Wednesday because of the weather.
The WNC Fallon campus will open as scheduled at 8 a.m.
