Nevada's unemployment rate was 5.4% in August, up 0.1% point from July 2023, according to state officials. 

The Nevada Department of Unemployment, Training and Rehabilitation says the unemployment rates were 6.1% in the Las Vegas area, 4.5% in Reno, and 4.8% in the Carson area in August 2023.

DETR says the labor force in Reno is currently 267,644 people, which is 2,680 more people than July 2023, and is up 7,498 people since August 2022. The labor force in Carson City is currently 26,343 people, which is 46 more people than July 2023, and is up 831 people since August 2022.

At the county level, the state saw increases or no change in unemployment rate in all of its counties besides Lander and Elko County. These counties both saw decreases of 0.1 percentage points, bringing their unemployment rate to 4.3% and 4.5%, respectively.

The lowest unemployment rate was in White Pine County at 4%, and Nye County had the highest rate at 7.4%.

Washoe County's unemployment rate was 4.5% while Carson City was 4.8%.
