A new bike and pedestrian bridge was installed over the Truckee River on Friday.
It connects the new West River Street Park, which is expected to be done this summer, with the extension of the legacy trail.
According to Mayor David Polivy, some of the goals of the bridge include separating bike and pedestrians from cars, providing more transportation options around Truckee, decreasing parking demand in town, and decreasing traffic issues.
"This is such a milestone for the town... we're connecting the people to the river. Everybody, our town staff and the community, has put a lot of effort into envisioning both this side of the river, the West River Street Park, the new streetscape, so really this just connects it all," said Mayor Polivy.
