One man is dead after being shot by a Nye County Deputy in Pahrump, NV

At 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, Nye County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) dispatch received a call regarding an ongoing family dispute in the 500 block of Bunarch Road in Pahrump, Nevada.

The situation escalated into a prohibited person in possession of a firearm as a man involved in the dispute was prohibited from having a gun due to a prior felony conviction.

The suspect barricaded in his residence and refused to leave.

Nearly three hours later, the man pointed a gun at NCSO personnel, resulting in a deputy shooting the suspect.

The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Nye County Sheriff's Office said they will release more information on Wednesday.
