Update, 1:00 p.m.:

Pleasant Valley Elementary School has resumed normal operations as of 12:40 p.m.

According to the Washoe County School District, school police will remain on campus as a precautionary measure for the rest of the day.

School will dismiss as normal.

Hello, Pleasant Valley Elementary School families:  

On behalf of Principal Derek Cordell, this is an important message from the Washoe County School District. 

A Code Red lockdown has been imposed at Pleasant Valley Elementary School due to reports of a suspicious person in the area today, Tuesday, June 4. School Police are on-site at the school and are investigating. All students and staff members are safe, and classes will be dismissed at the regular time today.  

Please do not come to the school, as all students are safe, and school will dismiss as normal.  School police will remain on campus for the safety of all students and staff.  An update will post in the district website washoeschools.net in the next 15 minutes.

Original Story, 12:06 p.m.:

Pleasant Valley Elementary School, located in Pleasant Valley, south of Reno, is on a code red lockdown.

The Washoe County School District posted the notice on its website around 11:55 a.m. on Tuesday. 

The lockdown is due to a suspicious person in the area.

School police are on campus and are investigating.
