LORI BAGWELL
NAME: Lori Bagwell
AGE: 62
PARTY AFFILIATION: Republican (non-partisan position)
DAY JOB: Mayor of Carson City
EDUCATION:
Bachelors Business Administration
HOW LONG YOU HAVE LIVED IN NEVADA: 58 years
WRITE A BRIEF (TWO TO THREE SENTENCES) SUMMARY OF YOUR PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE THAT WOULD ENABLE YOU TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THIS OFFICE:
I have served on the Board of Supervisors of Carson City for 10 years, four as Mayor. I retired from the State of Nevada as the Deputy Director of Support Services for the Department of Corrections. I additionally worked for the Governor preparing the state budget for years. I also know what it is like to own a small business and sign your name on a paycheck.
WHAT IS YOUR TOP PRIORITY IF ELECTED?
Over the next four years, we need to upgrade our Juvenile Facility. We have a portion of the funding saved to meet this need, but with escalating inflation, we do not have enough funds. I will work hard with our team to find a way to fund this project. It may take a combination of different funding sources, but we will get it done!
IN JUST A FEW SENTENCES: WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE IS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM FACING CARSON CITY, AND HOW WOULD YOU FIX IT?
Currently, infrastructure needs are the most important. Roads, an improved courthouse and, juvenile facility. We have two ballot measures to provide funding for roads and we have been saving for years to meet our courthouse and juvenile facility needs. We will look for grants and potentially bond issues to complete the rest of the funding needed.
IN ONE SENTENCE: WHAT’S THE MOST IMPORTANT THING VOTERS SHOULD KNOW ABOUT YOU?
I research and study everything before making a final decision to meet the needs of my community. I am always prepared.
YES OR NO: WILL YOU ACCEPT THE RESULTS OF THIS ELECTION, WHETHER YOU WIN OR LOSE?
