MICHELLE PEDERSEN
NAME: Michelle Pedersen
AGE: 46
PARTY AFFILIATION: Republican
DAY JOB: Deputy Clerk of Marriages, Carson City
EDUCATION:
Santa Teresa High School, class of 1996
HOW LONG HAVE YOU LIVED IN NEVADA: 20 years
WRITE A BRIEF (TWO TO THREE SENTENCES) SUMMARY OF YOUR PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE THAT WOULD ENABLE YOU TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THIS OFFICE:
I have spent the last 20 years submerged in the world of kids, serving in leadership positions in many youth organizations throughout the community; Little League, youth bowling, Youth Theatre, the youth programs of my church, and daily service in the schools. Through them I have managed large volunteer staffs, even larger budgets, and thousands of kids.
WHAT IS YOUR TOP PRIORITY IF ELECTED?
My goal is to enrich what is already great. The Carson City School Board is strong, healthy, and thriving; some might argue one of the most well-functioning school boards in our state! I want to be a part of sustaining and supporting what previous & current board members have worked tirelessly to build and maintain.
IN JUST A FEW SENTENCES: WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE IS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM FACING OUR STATE, AND HOW WOULD YOU FIX IT?
My top 3 are: Per-pupil funding, Low morale/teacher retention, and Mental health/student safety. The solutions are much more complex than I could fit into 2 sentences, but I am always open to dialogue!
IN ONE SENTENCE: WHAT’S THE MOST IMPORTANT THING VOTERS SHOULD KNOW ABOUT YOU?
I am seeking this seat to do what I’ve always done – and that is to protect the environment where our children grow, learn and develop. I am here to advocate for them, and them alone.
YES OR NO: WILL YOU ACCEPT THE RESULTS OF THIS ELECTION, WHETHER YOU WIN OR LOSE?
Yes, I will.
