According to the Desert Research Institute, Reno is the fastest-warming city in the United States.

This summer, the hottest parts of Reno, Sparks, and some of Washoe Valley will be mapped.

Our area is considered an urban heat island, which is when urban areas are hotter than rural ones.

The DRI says that heat is a risk to communities because it is a silent killer.

Community members can volunteer to help by collecting data. The data collection is done through a temperature sensor you can place on your car or bike.
