Northbound lanes of U.S. 395 have been closed, causing major traffic backups in north Reno heading into the north valleys.

NDOT has confirmed the closure but is not aware of any specific incident that is causing it.

A spokesperson for NDOT says that there are about 10 disabled vehicles holding up traffic in the area of U.S. 395 northbound between Oddie Boulevard and North McCarran Boulevard, and there are three snowplows that are concentrating their efforts in that area and laying down sand.

A spokesperson for Nevada State Police says there are multiple crashes involving several cars throughout the area.

Both Nevada State Police and NDOT are asking people to slow down on the roads and use extreme caution throughout this winter storm.

Additionally, the Nevada Department of Transportation website confirms a major incident on U.S. 395 northbound near the Oddie Boulevard exit and another incident involving a disabled vehicle just past North McCarran Boulevard that is affecting all northbound lanes.

Backups in both locations can be seen on traffic cameras.

We have received multiple calls from viewers heading northbound on U.S. 395 describing backups of longer than an hour with traffic not moving at all.
