The VA held its 18th annual Stand Down event on Friday for our local veterans, providing them with resources and benefits.

About 60 local, state, and federal organizations showed up to support veterans and give them the resources that they've earned and deserve.

"These events are so critical and a huge event for the local community to bring the community together and provide these veterans their resources, and a lot of our veterans look forward to this event every single year," said Thomas Talamante, the Executive Director for VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System.

But they give back to veterans in more ways than one.

Every quarter they hold a research fair and town hall for veterans.

In addition to that, outreach teams are constantly going out to the community providing veterans benefits and resources.

The resources at the Stand Down event are just as helpful.

Talamante says, "The services that we offer today are everything from housing to medical screening to educational benefits to clothes to food. In addition to that, multiple other resources like dental and everything that veterans greatly deserve."

They also say any benefits and resources the community wants to give to veterans are welcome during this event every year if you want to get involved.
