A woman has been convicted of domestic battery following an incident in December of last year in Sparks.

Andrea Danielle Ramirez was convicted on February 22nd following an incident on December 15th.

On that day, officers with the Sparks Police Department responded to a reported family disturbance. 

The victim told Sparks Dispatch that he was bleeding and that his ex-wife was trying to enter his home.

When officers got on scene the man told them he was at his mother's home when Ramirez told him she had broken a television at his home.

When he returned to survey the damage Ramirez was still there and threw a cell phone at him, which hit him in the back of the head.

Ramirez fled before officers arrived and was arrested several days later.

"The Sparks City Attorney's Office remains committed to its zero-tolerance policy towards domestic violence and will continue to protect our community by aggressively prosecuting any person who uses physical violence against their partner," said Sparks City Attorney, Wes Duncan in a statement.

Ramirez was sentenced to serve 180 days in the Washoe County Jail suspended for two years on the conditions that she spend ten active days in the Washoe County Jail, complete 48 hours of community service, pay a $200 fine plus administrative assessments, pay a $35 domestic violence fee, complete 26 weeks of domestic violence classes, have no drugs or alcohol, and that she obey all laws.
