A Houthi spokesperson says Saudi airstrikes have left three people dead in the Yemen's southwest. The AP could not independently verify the claim. Spokesperson Anees al Asbahi posted on X Tuesday that two of the dead were children and that another two people where wounded as a result of Monday's airstrikes. The escalation comes after the Iran-backed Houthi rebels seized another two strategic islands in the southern Red Sea, bolstering their ability to control a key maritime route. Separately, Human Rights Watch said Tuesday at least three recent Houthi attacks against commercial ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden in July and August most likely amount to war crimes.
