Pakistan Hospital Fire

Officials in Pakistan say a fire that erupted at a newborn nursery at a major government hospital in the capital Islamabad has killed 14 babies. Officials at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences say the nursery housed at least 15 newborns when the fire broke out. At least one baby was rescued. Rescue officials said the fire began about 6:45 a.m. after an air-conditioning unit compressor exploded inside the nursery. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered an immediate investigation. President Asif Ali Zardari has described the deaths as heartbreaking and an irreparable loss.
