Russian missiles and drones have pounded Kyiv and other Ukrainian regions, killing at least 12 civilians and wounding over 40. Ukrainian officials said the attack was anticipated, with President Zelenskyy warning of a “massive” strike. Despite knowing about the threat, Ukraine couldn't fend off the barrage. The attack highlights Ukraine's struggle to counter Russia's ballistic missiles and jet-powered drones. Ukraine is racing to develop new interceptors and searching for Patriot missiles. Meanwhile, Ukraine has struck back, targeting oil facilities in Russia. U.S.-led peace efforts seem unlikely to bring short-term relief as the conflict continues.
