Ukrainian drones have recently caused concern by entering Baltic airspace, leading to tensions with NATO countries. On Wednesday, Lithuanians sheltered in Vilnius due to drone activity in Belarus. No injuries have been reported, but these incidents have raised questions about NATO air defenses. Ukrainian officials apologized, blaming Russian electronic interference for sending drones off course. Russia claims Ukraine is planning attacks from Baltic countries, though no evidence was provided. NATO has responded calmly, emphasizing its readiness to defend its territory. The situation highlights ongoing tensions and the complexity of drone warfare in the region.
Ukrainian drones have struck another Russian refinery, igniting a fire and producing massive black smoke. Ukrainian President Voldoymyr Zelenskyy said Thursday that the attack targeted the Syzran oil refinery, over 500 miles inside Russia. The governor of Russia’s Samara region reported two deaths but did not mention the refinery. Ukraine has expanded its strike capabilities, frequently targeting Russian oil assets that fund Moscow's invasion. These attacks have pressured Moscow's economy and President Vladimir Putin. Ukraine's intensified campaign has also supported recent battlefield gains, according to the Institute for the Study of War.
