Flight attendants with WestJet, Canada's second-largest airline, have gone on strike over pay disputes. The Canadian Union of Public Employees represents the 4,400 cabin crew and announced the strike on Sunday. WestJet confirmed the strike and said it remains available for negotiations. The dispute centers on how flight attendants are paid for duties performed on the ground. The company says staff are compensated through a “credit hour" system, while the union claims some work is unpaid. FlightAware reports 495 flights have been canceled, disrupting travel plans during a three-day weekend. WestJet Encore and code-share flights remain unaffected.
