The Nevada Rural Housing Authority (NRHA) says a scam is going around where someone is pretending to be a representative of the NRHA in Carson City, Churchill, Lyon, Douglas and Storey Counties.
Officials said the individual is approaching homes and using a copy of the NRHA Weatherization Program application in an attempt to collect personal information such as social security, banking and other financial information.
The NRHA says the incident was reported to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office and the investigation is underway.
Officials said the NRHA does not solicit applications for the Weatherization Program door-to-door.
Anyone who believes they've been a victim of a crime is urged to contact their local law enforcement.
