PCSO: Looking for Suspects Involved in Fraud Check Ring

Placer County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) is asking for help to identify suspects involved in a fraudulent check ring where multiple victims have had their identity and money stolen.

From December 2019 to January 2020 multiple U.S. postal boxes were broken into in Truckee, California.

PCSO says checks were stolen from the mail, washed with new information and deposited into a theft victim's bank account. The money is then immediately cashed from another victim's account.

There are numerous reports of check theft from one group of victims and identity theft from a second group of victims.

Two suspects were caught on bank security video engaging in the fraudulent activity.

The first suspect is a white male seen cashing fake checks into a fake account on December 17, 2019 at the Greater Nevada Bank, University Branch.

The second suspect is a white female who was seen depositing and cashing fraud checks at the U.S. Bank on Kietzke Lane and Peckham Lane on January 3, 2020.

PCSO believes the two are responsible for the loss of thousands of dollars from many people.
