The Reno City Planning Commission voted 6-0 to recommend that City Council deny an ordinance related to Accessory Dwelling Units, or ADUs.
The units, also known as granny flats, are basically secondary homes built on a property that already has a primary residence.
The planning commission says it would have added more affordable housing options to the area.
But some residents have concerns, like privacy.
"Decided several years ago to move a block away to get a larger lot with our neighbors not so close on either side of us. This ordinance being proposed is going to destroy that dream for us."
The proposal now goes to the Reno City Council for final approval.
