Police have arrested a man after a standoff late Sunday night in Sparks.

Sparks Police responded to a call of a domestic disturbance on the 1800 block of El Rancho Drive at around 9:30 p.m.

The suspect, Thomas Gurski Jr. was armed with a handgun which he allegedly pointed at a neighbor during the disturbance.

He then pulled the victim into an apartment.

Officers tried to get Gurski to come out -- but he wouldn't.

Authorities say the Sparks SWAT team and hostage negotiators were called in and after an hour and a half of negotiations Gurski surrendered.

Surrounding apartments were evacuated during the incident but those residents have been allowed to return home.

Neither Gurski nor his victim were injured.

Gurski is charged with assault with a deadly weapon, domestic battery and obstructing a police officer.Â
