Reno Police have arrested a man in connection with a July 2009 murder and attempted murder of a mother and son at a 7-Eleven store.Â
Police say the woman, 50-year-old Esther Ramirez later died at the hospital. Â
Police say through the course of the investigation, detectives were able to identify a suspect in this case who had fled the Reno area and a nationwide warrant was issued for his arrest. Â
Over the course of the last 6 ½ years, the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Miguel Padron had eluded capture by authorities. Then on March 4th, officers with US Customs and Border Protection contacted Padron in Southern California and placed him into custody for the murder warrant.  Â
Homicide and Gang Detectives from the Reno Police Department went to Southern California to speak with Padron who officers say ultimately admitted his involvement in the 2009 homicide. Â
On March 23rd, Padron was extradited to Nevada and booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility for one count of Open Murder and one count of Attempted Murder.
