The Ronald McDonald House in Reno is about to undergo its first major renovation in over five years!

Representatives say $100,000 was raised through its recent Red Shoe Gala and Pennington Foundation matched the amount donated, so in all a total of $200,000 will go towards the project.

The renovations will include new plumbing, flooring, electrical, and furniture for all 12 rooms inside the 30+ year-old House.

“The benevolence of our supporters at the Red Shoe Gala was inspiring. We are so excited to be able to offer updated rooms and facilities to the 800+ families we serve every year. The community, along with the Pennington Foundation, deserve all of the praise for stepping up to provide an improved home-away-from-home for families with children in our local hospitals,” said Laurie Gorris, Executive Director of RMHC® Northern Nevada.

Construction is set to begin sometime next year. Representatives say the project will be completed in sections to ensure the House remains open to families.

The House is located 323 Maine Street in Reno.
