RTC to Host Mayberry Drive Reconstruction Project Meeting May 20th

Beginning Monday, September 26, RTC will be doing spot improvements to enhance safety and mobility in the North Valleys.

Locations of pedestrian improvements will be:

  • Sky Vista Parkway – A crosswalk is being relocated between Smith’s and Walmart to improve pedestrian access.
  • Stead Boulevard and Silver Lake Road – Curbs are being built out to shorten crossing distances and new flashing beacons are being installed near two schools. Left turn pocket storage will be improved.
  • Golden Valley Drive and North Virginia Street – Enhancements will be made to better accommodate truck turning movements.
  • Lemmon Drive and Surge Street – A pedestrian-activated flashing beacon will be installed.

RTC says that during construction work, there may be periodic single lane closures. They have placed digital message signs to alert drivers of the possibility of delays. They are asking all drivers to plan ahead, and to obey traffic laws in construction zones. Work is expected to last no longer than two months.

These enhancements are the first phase of safety improvements taking place throughout the North Valleys based on safety analysis and public comments received as part of the North Valleys Regional Multimodal Study and NDOT’s Reno/Sparks Freeway Study. The first phase of improvements is $1.1 million and is funded through Regional Road Impact Fees (RRIF), which are developer impact fees.
