On Christmas Day, Santa and his elves will deliver newly adopted pets from the Nevada Humane Society right to your doorstep!
People are invited to visit Nevada Humane Society in Reno to meet with adoptable pets and select the one they would like to adopt. The normal adoption process will follow, but if the adopter chooses, instead of taking the pet home at the time of adoption, Santa and his elves will deliver the pet to the new home! Pet deliveries will occur between set times on Christmas Day.
“There is no better way to celebrate the holidays than by bringing people and pets together!” said Michelle Perez, Events Manager for Nevada Humane Society.
“It is important to note that we are not gifting animals or giving them away. The standard adoption process is still required, but this allows parents, for example, to surprise their kids, or perhaps a husband to surprise his wife! The people who are adopting the animals will be caring for them as normal; it’s just that there is a surprise involved for the rest of the family,” says Perez.
Santa is pretty busy this time of year so deliveries are limited and available on a first come, first served basis. All animals adopted are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Adoption fees vary, but Santa’s delivery is of no extra charge, though donations are welcome and will go directly to the care of homeless pets.
Nevada Humane Society is open for adoptions seven days a week at two locations (except for Christmas day) from 11:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. For pet adoptions in Reno, visit 2825 Longley Lane. For pet adoptions in Carson City, visit 549 Airport Road.
