North Tahoe Fire Protection District says crews have capped a gas leak, and that the 'shelter in place' order is lifted near Old County Road in Carnelian Bay.
Old Country Road is closed between Dinah and Summit due to equipment in that area.
The leak affected about 50 homes.
North Tahoe Fire says people near Nightingale Road and Summit Road should still shelter in place.
Deputies say they are on scene coordinating.
There's no immediate word on what caused the leak.
