Shooting Fire in Carson City Burns 258 Acres; 80% Contained

Crews say the 258-acre Shooting Fire near the 'C' Hill in Carson City is now 80% contained, with full containment still expected on Monday night.

The fire broke out around 11 a.m. Sunday.

Sierra Front says the fire is burning towards the backside of the Carson Indian Colony. More than 50 structures in the colony were threatened on Sunday, but those evacuations have since been lifted. Sierra Front says there is currently no new evacuations.

No structures have been lost. South Curry Street has reopened.

The fire started at an old, unoccupied shooting range, where two young boys were sport shooting when their ammunition sparked a fire.
