Reno-Sparks Residents Asked to Cut Outdoor Water Use

The Sparks City Council says that they have approved a contract with Q&D Construction for the final phase of the North Truckee Drain Realignment Project.

They say the $14,118,008 contract is for the third and final phase and construction will begin in January 2017, taking a year to complete.

Sparks City Council says this project is a critical component of the entire Truckee River Flood Project and will realign the drain downstream of the Truckee River, east of Vista Boulevard.

They say because storm water as far north as the Spanish Springs Valley flows into the North Truckee Drain that realigning the drain will reduce flooding to the Sparks industrial area.

Over 6,500 feet of piping of various sizes will be installed for this project.

The project is being funded by City of Sparks’ flood fees paid by Sparks residents and businesses.
