Sparks Middle School to Hold 'Better Together Walk-Run' Saturday

'We're better together' says Sparks Middle School students. Almost two years after a shooting rocked their campus, the Golden Bears are proving to be stronger than ever and they hope you'll help them thrive even more.

They're inviting you to their 'Better Together Walk-Run' this Saturday. The 5k run and two-mile walk is open to the entire community.

The City of Sparks will have a team and dozens of home-based businesses will be part of a vendor mall, along with food trucks and music.

The school's trying to get the word out on social media. Reed High School's JROTC also went door-to-door, but sign-ups are down.

If you're interested, here's another reason to support the school. "The funds raised will support social and emotional learning, as well as opportunities for our teens to bring career education and college education for our middle schoolers to start thinking about that, because it's never too early for that,” says Theresa Shirley.

The Better Together Walk-Run starts at 8 am. It's $25 for adults and $10 for students.
