The Sparks Police Department says crews are investigating a crash that sent an 11-year-old child to the hospital on Monday.

Officials said it happened at the intersection of Pyramid Way and North McCarran Boulevard.

They said a car was going east on McCarran, when it turned south onto Pyramid Way. That's when the car struck the child, who was riding a bicycle.

Officials said REMSA, the Sparks Police Department and the Nevada Highway Patrol responded to the scene.

They said the child's mom was there when the crash happened, and the child was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Officials said the driver of the car was issued a citation for a misdemeanor right of way violation. They said no drugs or alcohol were suspected in the crash.
