Sports Books Preparing for March Madness

The 2015 NCAA tournament will host 68 teams in a bracket style competition. In Nevada, betting is part of the action.

Local sports books say it's the biggest time of the year for sports betting next to the Super Bowl. While March Madness doesn't begin until March 17th, bettors are already getting ready to pick their teams.

David Soukhanoff is one of many college basketball fans who takes March Madness very seriously. He says he's ready for the first round, but after that, he thinks anybody has a chance.

“When it gets down to the 2nd and 3rd round, you know those 5, 6 and 7 seeds always seem to knock off one of those big number ones,” says Soukhanoff.

Since there are so many teams to bet on, the local sports books are expecting standing room only for this year's tournament. Every year they say more and more people come out to bet and watch the games.

Many of these people are more than just bettors; they come to represent their schools colors. Some say they stay for the competitive nature between games, especially when rival school's play.

Joshua Majusiak has family who attended college in Arizona, so he says he''' be rooting for them in this year's tournament.

“It's the adrenaline the thrill of betting and seeing your team; showing that school spirit,” says Majusiak.
