For the first time in his career, Nevada Men’s Basketball player Nick Davidson has been named the Mountain West Player of the Week after leading the Pack to a historical week that included victories over ranked opponents in consecutive games for the first time in program history.
Davidson was sensational throughout the week, averaging 19.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, while holding stellar clips of 66.7 percent shooting from the field and 42.9 percent from behind the arc.
Davidson helped lead Nevada to a 14-point road victory over No. 22 Utah State, as well as a four-point overtime victory against No. 24 San Diego State.Â
In the Pack’s dominant 77-63 win at Utah State, Davidson was incredible, as the redshirt sophomore scored a career-high 25 points on a career-high 10 made field goals. Davidson also pulled down 10 rebounds, as he recorded his fourth double-double of the season. The sophomore matched a career-high by burying three 3-pointers, and he also tallied two steals in the victory.
Davidson had another impressive performance in Nevada’s 70-66 overtime win over No. 24 San Diego State. He scored 15 points on 6-10 shooting from the field, while also pulling down five rebounds. With the Pack trailing by two near the end of regulation, Davidson made an immaculate play, corralling an offensive rebound off a missed shot and finishing a layup at the rim to tie the game up with five seconds left and send the contest into overtime.
Davidson has been playing the best basketball of his career as of late, and he will aim to maintain his outstanding play on the court this Tuesday, as the Pack is set to host New Mexico in another critical Mountain West showdown.
