Washoe County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) rescued a stranded motorist and his dog Sunday evening.Â
Officials say the 38-year-old Fernley man took an alternate route and ended up stranded on a dirt road in Sierra County. Sierra County rescue teams were unable to reach him because of the weather.
He and his dog were stranded since just after 8:00 p.m. on December 12. Both were rescued around 4:00 p.m. on December 13 and Sierra County is now assisting them.
WCSO warns residents not to take alternate routes on GPS to shave off time, especially in inclement weather.Â
