Dozens of people showed their support for law enforcement at a ‘Don’t Cuff Our Cops’ rally Thursday morning outside the Nevada Legislative Building.
“We can't let the left-wing mob wreak havoc in Nevada like it currently is in Washington and Oregon.”
Thursday's rally hosted by the Nevada Republican Party was to coincide with the start of the second special session, but it was rescheduled on Wednesday for a later date.
Supporters held signs with 'Law & Order' and 'Defend Police' and 'Blue Lives Matter' along with signs supporting President Trump's re-election campaign.
The group says they want state legislatures to stop any laws that would defund police departments in our state.
“There's word that there’s going to be a move here to try and cut back on their ability to do what they need to do for us and we want to make sure that everyone continues to be protected,” says Jim Degraffenreid.
"We need to put more money into law enforcement not defund the police. And that’s the main message they had, is don’t handcuff out cops let them do their jobs let them protect the community."
Nevada Republican Party Chairman Michael J. McDonald released the following statement after Governor Sisolak announced the postponement of the special session to deal with police reforms:
“Make no mistake, Governor Sisolak postponed the start of special session because he is terrified to hear the voices of Nevadans that support our police. We won’t let him win. Our rally is still on for tomorrow morning.”
