Down a dirt road in Dayton, not far from an elementary school and a housing development, is a piece of Nevada history. Â Work on the Sutro Tunnel started in 1869.Â
Adolph Sutro built the 3.88-mile-long tunnel in the late 1800s to drain and ventilate the mines of Virginia City.
