Tahoe Expedition Academy Begins Construction of New Campus

The Tahoe Expedition Academy has officially broken ground on a campus that will be located in Truckee. Construction began on the new 42 acre site in early July.

The Tahoe Expedition Academy was founded on its hands on and creative learning methods. With the construction of a larger and more interactive campus, the school will be able to apply the same academic model to high school students as well.

Mark Kushner, CEO and head of the Tahoe Expedition Academy, says the new high school on the site will be called a +impact school.

“As the students get older, our +impact school focuses on all the skills they've learned, the knowledge they've learned and their character to be able to make a larger impact," says Kushner.

Construction crews are currently working on the campus infrastructure, and will begin constructing buildings next spring.

Kushner hopes the new site will continue to attract students from Truckee and the Lake Tahoe region, but also bring in more students from the Reno-Sparks area.

"This is a place for students who want to learn, who want to help and make a positive difference and want to apply the knowledge they learn,” says Kushner.

The new campus is expected to be complete and open to students by fall of 2017.
