The A.V.A. Ballet puts on this rock ballet every summer during Artown. It’s called Vortex and it’s ballet like you can’t imagine unless you see it yourself. It’s at the Hawkins Amphitheater at Bartley ranch Friday and Saturday at 8:30 p.m.
Movies in the Park: The Misfits
This classic was filmed in northern Nevada stars Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable. It’s this week’s Movie in the Park for Artown and it will be shown tonight following Rollin' on the River. They plan to play it at dark and anticipate that will be 9 p.m.
First Wooster Class Celebrated 50th Reunion
The first class at Wooster High school graduated 50 years ago this summer. And they will be getting together to talk about old times tonight. Enjoy!

Reno Bike Swap
The Reno Kiwanis will be holding a Bike Swap this Saturday in Idlewild Park. Registration for selling bikes is from 8-10. The actual swap starts at 10 and goes until 5pm. The hope to raise money and awareness of both the Reno Kiwanis Bike Project and colon health.
Reno Basque Festival 10-5 Wingfield Park
If you like Basque culture you’ll want to head to Wingfield Park on Saturday for the Basque Festival. Food, music, dancing, sports and entertainment from 10-5!

Local artists have decorated and painted doors from the Lear Theater for Artown and for a program called “Doors to Recovery.” On Saturday evening starting at 5:00 there will be a bike tour of the merchants and places where the doors are being displayed around Midtown and downtown Reno.
Carson City Farm City Discussion:
This summer the Carson City Library’s adult reading program is focusing on a book called Farm City. It was written by Novella Carpenter who grew a large community garden on an empty lot in Oakland and then wrote a book about it. This Saturday there will be a discussion of farming in both the city and the country…at the Carson City Farmer’s Market. Novella Carpenter will be there taking part. And you are invited as well. It starts at 11 a.m.
Vortex 8:30 pm Saturday at the Hawkins Amphitheater
The A.V.A. will be putting on its Rock Ballet called Vortex starting at 8:30 p.m. at the Hawkins Amphitheater at Bartley Ranch. It’s part of Artown. And it’s unlike any other ballet you’ve ever seen.

They will have a collection of military-themed cars and trucks and vehicles gathered for this car show. It’s at 960 Glendale in Sparks and there will be vets there as well to meet and greet.
14th Annual Art Paws, McKinley Arts Center, 10-5
Animal- centric art and animal product vendors will be on hand at the McKinley Arts and Culture Center and yes your pets are welcome.
