The Southern Nevada Health District says the 12,675 doses of the vaccine will be delivered to hospitals for health care workers.Â
On Sunday, Nevada Governor Sisolak extended the current statewide 'pause' and also reinstated an eviction moratorium.
Governor Sisolak announced Sunday the first shipment of vaccines to arrive for frontline medical workers and seniors. In his remarks, Sisolak says the state did a test run of the distribution process to make sure everything goes smoothly. He insured Nevadans would be updated on any new information in the vaccination process.Â
Sisolak reiterated the importance of creating a bridge between now and when the COVID-19 vaccines become widely available, reminding citizens to avoid gatherings, staying home, washing hands and wearing masks. A report from the University of Washington estimated 74% of Nevadans always wore a mask when leaving home as of November 30. The report says if Nevadans wore a mask 95% of the time, 1,000 Nevadan lives could be saved by April 1.Â
According to health officials we are just now seeing the effects of the Thanksgiving gatherings and the brief decline in new cases over the holiday weekend was related to decreased testing.Â
The governor reiterated what was implemented three weeks ago on Sunday November 23 announcing a statewide pause, extending it's conditions until January 15 2021.Â

The Governor also announced the reinstatement of a residential eviction moratorium until March 31 2021, saying it is impossible for people who are evicted to stay home and will unintentionally spread COVID-19 because they have no other option than to be out looking for jobs and housing. Sisolak continued by saying it is critical that we do all we can to keep Nevadans in their homes and mitigate the risk of spread and infection.Â
The moratorium does not relieve renters from their obligations to pay rent to their landlords and the State has already created and provided lease addendums where landlords and tenants can work on repayment solutions together, according to Sisolak's statements. The moratorium will not stop certain evictions for things like unlawful activity or nuisance.Â
Rental assistance programs are also available throughout the state, but will expire at the end of December. Sisolak says he will do everything he can to continue to push for economic assistance for impacted landlords.Â
