Governor Sisolak urged Nevadans to follow 'Stay At Home 2.0' protocols on Tuesday, after seeing an alarming spike in COVID-19 cases over the past couple of weeks.

He's asking all residents and businesses to socially isolate as much as possible for the next 14 days and to wear masks at all times.

He also urged people to wear masks properly -- which is over the face and nose.

Gov. Sisolak said Nevada is averaging over 1,300 new cases every day and the healthcare system is at risk of being overwhelmed.

President and CEO of Renown, Dr. Tony Slonim, said the hospital isn't using its parking garage to room patients yet, but it's on the verge of using it.

"We need to do better... 14 days starts now," Gov. Sisolak said, "I don't want to close things down."

He said he was not ordering a directive on Tuesday, but pleading with Nevadans to do the right thing and follow COVID-19 safety protocols that are already in place.

For the next two weeks, he called upon businesses to implement stricter enforcement of mask wearing and have employees work from home if and whenever possible.

Gov. Sisolak urged residents not to have social gatherings at home, whether large or small. He's encouraging everyone to download the COVID Trace app as well and if anyone feels sick, stay home.

"If you don't have to go out, don't go out," Gov. Sisolak said. "I know this is an enormous sacrifice... I'm asking you on behalf of our healthcare workers, please do your part."

He held this conference a day after the Truckee Meadows COVID Risk Meter reached 'high red' levels within the 'very high' category -- one level under 'severe.'
