A local non-profit is warning about scammers going door-to-door in Sparks claiming to be collecting donations for Hawk Fire victims in the name of their organization.
These scammers are claiming to be affiliated with Project Bear Hugs, according to that organization’s founder, Hannah Hoobyar.
These people are not affiliated with Project Bear Hugs, she said, stressing that the organization would never go door-to-door.
Authorities have been notified of the scam.
