The vibrations wrap up this weekend on the streets of northern Nevada. Saturday marks the final day of the Street Vibrations fall rally.
“We're told, almost 50,000 bikes, in the Reno-Tahoe area,” says Randy Burke, President of Roadshows, Inc., the organization that puts on Street Vibrations.
The 50,000 figure includes visitors at the Glow Plaza in Downtown Reno, as well as the Harley-Davidsons in Reno and Carson City, and the Bucket of Blood Saloon in Virginia City.
Attendees say they keep coming back for the people and music who put the vibes in Street Vibrations.
“I have people coming in from out of town, Idaho, California, to stay with us,” says Corrine King, who lives in Carson City. “It's fun just to go ride around.">
"Good music, good people, and the motorcycles,” says Michael Babcock.
When they're not rumbling through the streets, you can find bikes on display around town. That's where you'll find Corrine King's beautiful light blue Harley.
“It is a '09 Dyna Street Bob,” she says. “When I got this, it literally was rattle-canned, like spray painted this awful blue color.”
After nine months of work, King's friend repainted and restored the bike to the glory you see today. All over the bike, you'll find oil slick accents, from the shiny foot pedals to the wave patterns up top.
“I wanted to have something that was, like, an accent pop,” King says. “So I went with the gold. And it's like a tinfoil; you just rub it on there."
And as good as her bike looks, King says it's still a work in progress. This winter, she plans to have the frame painted and get taller shocks installed.
Seeing bikes like King's beauty on display is just one of the many family-friendly activities street vibrations brings to downtown reno.
“There's nothing that goes on here that doesn't have what we call the Disney standard,” Burke says. “So brother, sister, grandma, grandpa, everybody, get the car on their bike. Come down to see us."
The fall rally wraps up Saturday night. Reno Harley Davidson and Battle Born Harley Davidson in Carson City have some vendors and specials available for riders to stop by as they leave town.
