"We have to take action," shouted a demonstrator at the University of Nevada. "We have to take action this coming week."
Hundreds of people gathered in front of the Knowledge Center at the University of Nevada, Reno Friday calling for climate reform.
"We are looking to our leaders to start moving to include the environment in everything they do," said Stallar Lufrano-Jardine, an organizer.
"Our generation is the last generation to do something," said Lilly Adams, a 7th Grader at Tahoe Expedition Academy.
130 students made the trip from Truckee for this real life lesson.
"We learn about conflicts, we learn about ordeals that humanity has overcome," said Adam Smith, a teacher at the school. "This is just another one of them... but this could be the most pivotal of them all."
According to a United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Report, time is running out.
"The U.N. I. P.C.C. report said that we have 10 years to solve this problem," said Lufrano-Jardine.
Ryley Svendsen and her friends walked out of their Constitutional Law class Friday to prove a point.
"As important as Constitutional Law is, I would say that living in my future is a little more important because if we don't have that, then nothing else really matters," said Svendsen.
Meanwhile, Bill Miller is giving up food for one day to show his support for the environment.
"We've lived a life of abundance and luxury, which we've taken for granted," said Miller. "Now we are seeing the price we have to pay for that."
Hundreds of people are expected to attend a rally at the Believe Sign, Friday September 20 at 5:30 p.m., as part of the Global Climate Strike.
