National Dog Day, celebrated every year on August 26, was founded in 2004 by animal welfare advocate, author, and pet lifestyle expert Colleen Paige.
The day honors all dogs, purebred, mixed, working, and family companions alike.
Beyond celebrating the love and joy dogs bring to our lives, National Dog Day shines a light on the countless dogs in need of rescue each year, from public shelters to breed-specific rescues.
