Fernley has a new lithium-ion battery recycling bin inside the city hall building, at 595 Silverlace Blvd.
In a post on Facebook, North Lyon Fire says by using the recycling bin, you’re helping reduce fire risks, protecting sanitation workers, and you’re keeping hazardous materials out of landfills.
Lithium-ion batteries are common in cell phones, laptops, and many electronic devices. Batteries improperly disposed of can ignite, leading to fires.
Drop-off times for the lithium-ion battery recycling bin are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The bin is closed on weekends.
