For some people, giving blood is a tradition -- for others it's a no-brainer.
"Why not help somebody?" says Ashley Mager, a donor.
Scott Edward, Senior Donor Manager at Vitalant, says that blood donations are very appreciated, especially this year. Because of COVID-19, many blood drives have been canceled, affecting the amount of blood collected.
"Because we can't collect like we did in the past, it's very problematic to keep up with that red cell need," says Edward.
Donors can also give platelets and COVID plasma, used to treat COVID-19 patients. Those who donate blood through the 1st of December, will get a $5 Amazon gift card.
If you can't make it to a Vitalant location, there will be a drive on Sunday at the Sierra Sage Golf Course in Reno from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On Monday, you can go to the Healthy Communities Coalition Food Pantry in Dayton from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
