The DMV has issued an automatic extension of all DMV issued documents that have an expiration date of March 12, 2020, through July 15,
2020.
The extension begins on the date of expiration listed on your DMV issued document and runs through September 13, 2020.
If your expiration date is prior to March 12 renew or take action as soon as possible (late fees may apply.)
If your expiration date is March 12 to July 15 renew or take action by September 13.
If your expiration date is July 16 or later you must renew on time.
The extension applies to any DMV-issued document including, but not limited to, driver’s licenses, ID cards, instruction permits, vehicle registrations and emissions
tests.
You should carry the letter below with your DMV-issued document at all times as proof of eligibility for the automatic extension.
