Temporary Alcohol Ban in South Lake Tahoe .jpg

Visitors planning to spend the Independence Day holiday at several popular Lake Tahoe beaches will once again be subject to temporary alcohol restrictions as part of an annual public safety effort.

No alcohol will be permitted at Chambers Landing Beach, Nevada Beach, Meeks Bay Resort, Zephyr Cove Resort, and Zephyr Shoals during designated dates surrounding the holiday.

The prohibition will be in effect from July 1 through July 6 at Chambers Landing Beach, on July 4 at Nevada Beach and at Meeks Bay Resort and Campground, and from July 3 through July 5 at Zephyr Cove Resort and Zephyr Shoals.

Forest orders and maps for the restricted areas will be posted on the agency's alerts webpage. The areas will be patrolled by law enforcement personnel from the Forest Service, state and local law enforcement agencies, and private security staff.

Violating the prohibition is punishable by a fine of up to $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, imprisonment for up to six months, or both.
