Governor-elect Aaron Ford addressed the state on Wednesday evening after winning Nevada's governor's race.
In his remarks Ford thanked Nevadans for choosing him for the role. He also touched on his vision to expand opportunity for residents of the state.
He said he understood the struggles of voters and would fight to lower costs.
Other priorities Ford says he has include fighting medical debt, making life saving drugs more affordable, addressing the high costs of energy, and lifting up working class Nevadans.
Following the victory, Ford's campaign highlighted its message of affordability and opportunities for working Nevadans, while outgoing Gov. Joe Lombardo called for unity as the state prepares for the transition.
The Ford campaign released a statement following the victory, saying:
“Tonight’s victory belongs to the housekeepers, nurses, teachers, rideshare drivers, electricians, and all working Nevadans who will no longer have to settle for working harder than ever yet struggling more and more to afford to live. Governor-elect Aaron Ford overcame being outspent by tens of millions in this race thanks to the strength of his movement of working people fighting for a Nevada we can all afford to call home. Ford will be a Governor for the entirety of the Nevada family and will work tirelessly to build a Nevada in which every person has the opportunity to achieve their American Dream.”
Meanwhile, Lombardo shared a message on X following Ford's victory, saying he called the attorney general to congratulate him.
