The 29th annual Lake Tahoe Summit will take place in South Lake Tahoe next month, bringing together lawmakers, tribal representatives, and community leaders to discuss the future of the region.
U.S. Senator Adam Schiff of California announced that this year’s summit will be held Wednesday, August 6 at Valhalla Tahoe, a location favored by the late Senator Dianne Feinstein.
The event will honor Feinstein’s legacy and her role, alongside former Nevada Senator Harry Reid, in creating the summit in 1997.
The 2025 theme, “Protecting Lake Tahoe: Balancing Sustainable Recreation and Conservation,” will guide discussions among federal, state, and local stakeholders, as well as members of the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California.
"I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to host the annual Lake Tahoe Summit this year. Senator Dianne Feinstein was a stalwart protector of Lake Tahoe, and as someone who has the honor of filling her seat in the U.S. Senate, I look forward to continuing her commitment to protecting this precious resource for future generations,” said Senator Schiff.
Schiff has focused heavily on environmental issues throughout his political career. He recently introduced the “Rim of the Valley” legislation to protect open space and wildlife corridors in the greater Los Angeles area. The bill builds on work he led while serving in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Preserving Lake Tahoe is a natural extension of that work. This will be Schiff’s first time hosting the summit, which he will lead in collaboration with fellow senators, House members, local officials, and representatives of the Washoe Tribe.
The summit is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and will feature keynote speaker Jeremy Renner, a Lake Tahoe resident and Academy Award-nominated actor.
The event is open to the public, with options for in-person or virtual attendance. Registration information is available online.
Valhalla Tahoe, located at 1 Valhalla Road, will host the summit. On-site parking will not be available.
Organizers encourage attendees to use public transportation, a complimentary shuttle, or arrive by bike.
The Lake Tahoe Bicycle Coalition will provide free bike valet service.
