Christmas Tree Cutting

Free Christmas tree cutting and firewood permits are now offered at Bureau of Land Management offices and online.

This comes after BLM has announced a series of holiday affordability measures, hoping it will help families save money, enjoy public lands, and support wildfire prevention efforts.

Now through January 31, BLM will be issuing these permits at the Northern Nevada districts. These permits are available online 24 hours a day, seven days a week and permits can be acquired on the BLM website.

“Here in Nevada, families rely on public lands for tradition, recreation, and essential resources,” said State Director Jon Raby. “These fee reductions make it easier for people to gather firewood and Christmas trees close to home, all while helping us reduce hazardous fuels and improve forest health.”

According to officials, "BLM will continue coordinating with community partners, tribal governments and local organizations to share information about permit availability and new cutting areas."

BLM urges you to call your local district for more information on how to obtain these permits.
